Once in a while, we all need a reminder of why we’re working so hard, why we’re dreaming so big, and why there’s no reason to be ashamed of wanting more money. The reason is because of what money can buy. No, not just material possessions. The best things that money can buy are choice, ability, and availability. Everybody needs all three of these in their life and I’m going to show you how to get them.
Choice is choosing what you want to do, where you want to do it, when you want to do it, and with whom. That is real choice. It applies to both your work and personal lives. You should have the choice between doing something you enjoy for a living instead of working for a boss you hate. You should be able to create abundance in a way that you feel good about as opposed to having it feel like an obligation. This will look different for everyone, but that’s the beauty of choice.
Money can also buy you the ability to choose. We might choose to take a certain trip or choose to support a certain charity, but if you don’t have the ability to follow through and pay for these things, then you don’t have a choice at all. Ask yourself what choices you’d like to be able to make and ask yourself how much money you’ll need to be able to make them.
One trap people fall into is building up ability at the expense of availability. What good is all that wealth if you never have the availability to use it? You can create availability in your life through the choices you make and through how you build your lifestyle. When you create at least one good source of passive income, you give yourself the availability to do what you want.
These three things are the best things you can buy. Anything else is just a byproduct of one of these three. So build your life around them and you’ll be amazed at the life you find yourself living.
