You know that I believe you should be unapologetic about your pursuit of wealth. And yet, one thing I know many people deal with on a regular basis is financial shame. You should have no shame in your financial game, no matter what position you’re in – whether you’re at rock bottom, on the ascent, or if you’re sitting at the top. I’m going to share three reasons for that with you today.
The first reason is that feeling shame can be the beginning of a comeback. Most of us don’t take the time to learn all we need to do about finances because we don’t have to. If you’re in a position of shame, acknowledge it, but don’t sit it in. Move forward and say, “Never again.”
When your back is against the wall, it fuels you to change your financial position. And when you take that financial fuel, you start working harder and doing the things you were scared to do before. Don’t let shame hold you down. Let it fuel your growth.
And lastly, you shouldn’t feel shame about your finances because everyone feels shame about their finances sometimes. You never know a person’s story, or what they’ve been through, or how they feel inside. Shame is often driven by our own feelings, but to someone on the outside our situation could seem amazing.
Whether you’re in the depths of despair or on top of your financial game, you shouldn’t feel shame or embarrassment. There’s no reason to feel as if you did something wrong. Just let this be the moment where you start doing something right.
